Vayeda Brothers
Tushar and Mayur Vayeda are an artist duo from Western India who practice contemporary warli art. While growing up in Ganjad, the Brothers had early exposure to an enriched form of storytelling passed on orally and pictorially. Their concern lies in depicting this spirit of vivid narration of an indigenous art form and its subtle visual intricacies of the jungles, mountains, and animals that surround the village to weave ethereal moments in time and space. The duo has recently been exploring the use of geometric shapes to paint built environments using indigenous techniques of warli while manipulating the medium of canvases by treating it with organic materials like cow dung and waste water colours. The Vayeda Brothers have been a part of various exhibitions and public art projects. Most recently they showed their work at Forest of Future with India Art Fair, 2023; Kernels of Hope with Ojas Art Gallery, 2023; WAYS OF WATER with Mumbai Urban Art Festival, 2022 and Ancient Forest at Tsomoriri Bunko, Tokyo, Japan, 2022.
