Cubilex represents text as building blocks. The wooden panels bearing letters are tangible fragments of both devanagari and latin scripts. Drawing inspiration from the familiar form of building blocks, the alphabets A, B, and C are assembled with an interplay of form and illusion that reconstructs what we understand as the foundation of language and learning.
By manipulating the dimensions and presenting the work in a three-dimensional format, Cubilex invites viewers to reconsider their perception of familiar symbols. It beckons them to be reminiscent of a child’s initial encounter with language, and the consequential realisation of the limitations of it.
